History

Tobacco has grown wild in the Jamastrán Valley of Honduras since the 1600´s. Indigenous people handcrafted simple cigars to enjoy. The planting and harvesting of tobacco began as an industry in the nineteenth century with the immigration of Spanish families into the area. One of the most prominent and interested in the tobacco industry was the Castillo family. In 1895 Mr.Matilde Castillo, Mayor of the city of Danlí, promoted laws and regulations to encourage and assist the tobacco industry. These laws were ratified by the President of Honduras Policarpio Bonilla. The tobacco industry officially took off in Danlí with the arrival of Cuban families in the 1960´s who brought their knowledge of high quality processes for cultivating and manufacturing tobacco. With the death of Mr.Matilde Castillo in the early 1900´s the Castillo family left the tobacco industry until 2020 when a new generation became intrigued. Inspired by the life of Carlos Castillo Valle who worked for the advancement of the city of Danlí with honor and energy, his descendants work to produce and craft cigars of the highest quality. Our wish is to satisfy your palate with an exquisite and priceless product that can only be grown and processed in Danlí, El Paraíso, Honduras.
